Scaffold Pull-ups

Any red-blooded man who’s walked beneath scaffolding has no doubt been tempted to jump up, grab a bar and go for it. Those things are practically begging to be swung around on, hung from or climbed.

One of the only things I dislike about life in NYC is all the construction, but every cloud has a sliver lining. While it can be an eye sore, construction scaffolding is great for doing pull-ups.

My brother Danny and I got a great workout yesterday during the morning commute. While everyone around us scuttled off to the office, we got our reps in without setting foot in a gym.

I love the pistols on the bar!

Thanks, Mike! That takes a lot of practice – it’s safer to learn on a lower bar. (And obviously, make sure you’ve gotten the hang of pistols on the ground first.)

Great video. Interesting how some people walking by didn’t seem to notice.

My friends hate me for doing stuff like this, will be walking along and I’ll see a wall or scaffolding that I have to climb on and stuff on. It’s awesome stuff :D

Something I’ve noticed also about when I’m on a wall or scaffolding, etc, no one seems to notice, at least, the adults don’t anyway, they’re so set in their narrow ways.
But the kids, they’re looking all over the place, pointing, waving, wandering about, it’s great to see.
I never want to lose that feeling of exploration when I’m older :)
      Keep it up Al :)

Oh please, Sam, the zombies are classic New York–LOVEd that they were completely nonplussed by the crazy Kavadlo Bros! But also love all the variations on the pullups and Danny’s human flag is INSANE! Al: what was that backwards plank thing? Looks like a major OUCH to me…!

    • John

Seriously, that was money! Kavadlo’s you deserve to get paid…..

The backwards plank thing is called a back lever. I did a whole post on it a few weeks ago.

It is amazing that in NY you can do this crazy stuff, swinging on bars etc., and people walk by blase like it’s just an ordinary day. So much for NY. Keep up the wild and wacky things.

There’s a house down my street with some scaffolding. Last night nobody was home so I went there and did a few muscle-ups! I just hope no one notices me!
