Active Vacation

Just because you’re on vacation, doesn’t mean you should be lazy. When I visited Punta Cana, Dominican Republic last week, I spent plenty of time relaxing on the beach and lounging in the pool, but I also got plenty of exercise.

I swam in the ocean, jogged along the sand or played tennis every day I was there. I also made sure to get my reps in using anything and everything I could find!

I did back bridges in the sand, muscle-ups on the lifeguard posts and other bodyweight calisthenics whenever I saw an opportunity.

Punta Cana is a beautiful city with some amazing scenery. The sun and surf gave me inspiration to work out and the beach offered some unique challenges.

    Hi Al,

Wow that is a very nice place to work out :) Truly wonderful looking…And you also look so energetic and lively as usual which scatters around lots of positive energy that is motivating for me to work out more and more!

By the way, do you remember that I was unable to do a single dip when I first stated to work out. Now I am able to do 3 parallel bar dips and 3 horizontal bar dips, I also am able to pull myself up to do chest level 5-6 times which I also was unable. And I also can do pistol squats! I think something is happening :)  My stomach looks much more flat than a month ago…Roughly a month passed since I’ve found your site and started working out. Tough it is a short while there is lots of improvement about my calisthenic abilities. Thank you!

What shoes did you have on at the end, or were those socks?

They’re called “Aqua Socks” – so a little bit of both, I suppose.

Fyi, Aqua Socks are kinda like Vibram Five Fingers but they cost 1/10th as much.
